Prince George Division of Family Practice

Our Division

Prince George division of family practice

Our doctors' long-standing commitment to improving primary care meant that our Division was a natural to be chosen as one of three provincial prototypes to begin working on providing access to a family physician for each citizen who wants their own doctor, through the A GP for Me initiative.

A GP for Me is a joint initiative of the Government of BC and Doctors of BC, that aims to provide every British Columbian with the opportunity to access and benefit from a stronger, deeper relationship with a family physician, including patients who may be hard to serve in traditional practice settings.

Membership in the Prince George Division of Family Practice is inclusive and available to all family physicians practicing primary care in the community. Find out more information about becoming a member here.

The Prince George Division currently has two service agreements with the Ministry of Health to provide care to specific populations in our community:

  • In-patient Primary Care Doctor Program - providing continuous care for all patients who are admitted to the hospital without access to a family physician with hospital privileges.
  • Complex Residential Care Physician Program - supporting quality consistent primary care for patients in Prince George residential care facilities.
