4. Getting Started: The Model for Improvement

What is it and how will it help?

Developed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) after researching the change strategies of successful organizations, the Model for Improvement's approach to improving care is similar to using the scientific method. It is a simple way to approach aspects of care ranging from big-system issues to individual care between a professional and a client. It has helped many health care organizations make improvements using principles that team members can also apply to their daily lives.
