Maternity Care Resources

Many family physicians have identified improving maternity care as a priority. Common areas of focus include:
  • Prenatal and postpartum care
  • Attachment issues, especially among young mothers and marginalized populations
  • Mental health issues such as postpartum depression
  • Cultural barriers between doctor and patient
  • Large volumes of lab work and administration
  • Access to maternity care in rural settings
  • Special treatment for high-risk patients

Several Divisions of Family Practice have implemented programs that successfully and innovatively address these areas. If your division is contemplating developing a maternity care program or looking to improve your current one, the resources below may be helpful.

Tell us about a challenge you’ve encountered that you feel other divisions may benefit by knowing about or give us your feedback on these resources.
