Donating Personal Protective Equipment

Image of construction workers and a medical professional wearing masks with text that says, Have Protective Supplies to Spare?.

We’re asking individuals and organizations to donate any spare personal protective equipment. This includes disposable gloves, masks, protective gowns, eye protection, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes.

The Nanaimo Division of Family Practice is coordinating efforts to collect and distribute these supplies to health care workers throughout Nanaimo, including those in our local community medical clinics, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, and other essential health service locations.  While health care professionals have some supplies now, we want to ensure that there is no disruption while we are waiting for new orders of supplies to arrive.

Please...dig around in your garage, workshop or business and see what you have to spare!

Every single piece of donated PPE helps protect our medical staff from infection.

Why are supplies needed?

COVID-19 has led to a global shortage of protective equipment for health care workers. They need this equipment to protect themselves and provide safe, quality care. Without it, they’re at higher risk of injury or illness. These workers are on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic, and they need our support today.

What supplies are needed?

  • N95 Masks
  • Other types of Masks (single-use disposable)

  • Hand sanitizer (60% alcohol or higher)
