Community Information: The scenic Comox Valley is an ideal place to raise a family. Housing is affordable, the physician community is friendly and supportive, and there are an outstanding number of opportunities for recreational programs both in doors and out.

The physician community comprises 16 full-service medical clinics, two walk-in clinics and a military base clinic, and a new 153-bed acute care facility, the Comox Valley Hospital.

The Valley is one of the Vancouver Island’s best-kept secrets! It includes the unique communities of: Comox (a relaxed seaside town), Courtenay (a bustling urban city), Cumberland (a young and artistic village), and the idyllic rural areas from Fanny Bay in the South to Black Creek in the North including the islands of Hornby and Denman. It is surrounded by majestic mountains, rushing rivers, lush rainforests and shimmering seas, and is one of the fastest growing areas in Canada.

The winters are short and mild with warm, dry summers. There are over 50 annual festivals, a theatre providing year-round performing arts, great boutique shopping, wonderful restaurants, farmers markets, and vineyards. Mount Washington Ski resort has 1700 acres of terrain and is only 30 minutes outside the city. Cumberland has world-renowned mountain biking trails that can be ridden year-round.
